JESSE WINS DASH,BRAD WINS HEAT
BOTH STRUGGLE IN FEATURE!!
SATURDAY, JUNE 12
The VRT Team was Choping at the Bit saturday for a good night as Brad made some set-up changes on Jesse's Hotrod this week after 2 weeks of Handling struggles, He also did some changing on Adam's Car as he and the Team prepaired the #2 Hotrod for Brad to pilot as Adam was attending the Cup race at MIS.
HOTLAPS........
Jesse looked alot better as he was fast and the car was steering a Ton Better!! Brad took Adam's #2 out and turned some fast laps in the 14.5's as the car handled good and the tired motor ran well.
QUALIFYING......
Jesse took his #38 Hotrod out 1st and layed down a 14.581 lap that was a 1/4 second faster than last week and made him 6th quick and put the #38 car back into the Dash for the 1st time in 3 weeks. Brad then went out and posted a 14.723 lap that would put him 10th quick and in the Heat race.
DASH......
Jesse started the Dash on the Pole next to Rookie Driver Justin Stephens in the Jim Galloway #15. On the drop of the green, Jesse took the lead into turn 1 and never looked back as he would post his 2nd checker of the season, and build some confedence for the Feature Later.
HEAT RACE.......
Brad put Adam's car into the Fast Heat lined up on the outside pole next to good friend Ken Kirby in the #00. As the 2 cars exited turn 4 for the green they made some contact, as Kirby broke loose and clipped Brad's left rear quarter and both spun. Both sustained heavy Cosmetic Damage but were able to re-start the race. On the 2nd green, Brad drag raced Kirby and beat him entering turn 1. Brad would go on to a Nice Win, Holding off another good friend in Ralph Wine in the #25.
CRAWFORD LAPS THE FIELD IN FEATURE WIN
With the Hot Humid night hovering over the Race Track 13 Latemodels got ready for another exciting 40 Lap feature . With fast qualifyer Rich Hardy drawing a 10 for the Inversion the VRT Team and Brad were rewarded with the pole as Brad was the 10th quick qualifyer. That would place Brad next to veteran Marty Crawford in the X car. But the Team knew Brad would have his hands full with the X car's Horsepower! The green would drop at 8:17pm with Crawford shooting out like a Missle into the lead. Brad would hold his own for a few laps, holding off the #9 of Krick, and the #49 of Rugg. Jesse was boxed in from his 5th starting position and fell back a spot to 6th, before making his run toward the front. The 1st caution came on lap 7 for Torch Ousterhouse sliding head first into the 1st Turn Tire wall after slight contact from the #15 of Stephens. Brad got kicked back to 6th with Jesse on his tail in 7th. Just after the 1/2 way sign, Crawford was on a rail and was knocking down lap cars like they were'nt even running. Jesse began to look faster as moved to the outside and began battling the #0 of Rich Hardy for 7th, while Brad was holding pat in 6th. Jesse tryed the outside but could'nt make the car stick as the faster cars of #0 Hardy, and #9 of Krick, and the #49 of Scott Rugg got by underneath. Marty Crawford would lap everyone up to the 3rd place Car of Ralph Wine, and go on to score a Very impressive win over the #9 of Luke Krick. The Top 5 would finish..
1.)MARTY CRAWFORD
2.)LUKE KRICK
3.)RALPH WINE
4.)RICH HARDY
5.)SCOTTY RUGG
BRAD WOULD FINISH 7TH WITH JESSE RIGHT BEHIND IN 8TH.
THE VRT TEAM WOULD GO HOME FEELING A LITTLE BETTER WITH 2 CHECKERS FOR THE NIGHT, BUT NOT PLEASED WITH ANOTHER WEEK OF STRUGGLING FEATURE FINISH'S.......SO IT'S BACK TO THE GARAGE AND FIND THE CAUSE, AND HOPEFULLY FIND THE FIX.
