SATURDAY JULY 10TH...
The Much anticapated Freedom 100 Race was finally here with the VRT Team in high gear for one of the biggest races of the year. Brad worked feverishly all week on Adam's Purple Deuce making adjustments. Also on Jesse's Hotrod, which lost a starter last week. The Team met at the VRT garage Saturday Morning with High Anticapation for the 100 Lapper, after Adam's Near win last year, and Jesse's 2nd place finish! We figured there would be some good cars from other tracks, and when we got to the Track our thoughts were right..as 21 Latemodels made the Show.

HOTLAPS......
Jesse's Car was quick, But had a bad Loose condition on Entry, Adam was very quick..but complained the car was loose off, and the steering was different from last week. Adam posted a fast lap of 14.43 in Hotlaps, while Jesse could only muster a 14.77 lap with a loose car.

QUALIFYING.....
Jesse was the 1st VRT Car to take Qualifying laps and would post a 14.589 lap that would make him 16th quick of the 21 that would qualify. Adam then went out as the last of the 21 cars and would post a quicker lap of 14.523 that would make Adam 13th quick overall.

HEAT RACE #1.....
Adam and the Team would roll the Purple Deuce into the outside pole next to Rookie Justin Stephens in the #15. On the Green Flag drop Adam would hammer the Throttle and beat Stephens into turn 1 taking the lead. Adam would never look back as the car handled great and was on a rail winning from flag to flag and bringing home the Trophy.

HEAT RACE #2.....
Jesse and the Team Rolled Jess into the 5th starting spot next to #4 from New Paris. On the Green Flag drop Tim Edwards would jump to the early lead with Jesse jumpin outside making a move to the front. After some contact with the #00 of Ken Kirby Jesse felt it was time to go...And so he did, taking the lead on Lap 6 while a yellow waved at the same time for the #6 of Dustin Cooley spinning in turn 2. On the re-start Jesse looked to make the same move, but was blocked by Edwards and the #22 and was forced to settle for 2nd.

FREEDOM 100 GOE'S TO ANDY BOZELL
The Anticapation of Galesburg Speedways biggest latemodel race of the Year had finally came to a head with 18 of the fastest Latemodels in the area taking to the historic 1/4 mile track for the 8th running of the Freedom 100. With some help from fast qualifyer Rich Hardy drawing a 16 for the inversion, Jesse and the VRT Team rolled the #38 Hotrod into the Pole Position Next to the #87 of Ty Hayes. Adam would roll the Purple Deuce into the 4th starting position outside row#2 next to Justin Stephens in the Galloway #15. The Green Flag would fall at 9:11pm with the #87 jumpin out quickly into a sizeable lead, while Jesse was fighting off Adam and the #49 of Scott Rugg for the 2nd spot. Adam would take over 2nd on lap 9 with Jesse slipping backwards to the 5th spot. the 1st caution would fly for Jesse spinning in turn 2. On lap 36 Jesse would pull the #38 Hotrod off the track & into the Pits with a Broken Oil Cooler, Ending his night!! Adam would then shock the Team pulling his car in while running 2nd, complaining of a loose left rear tire, and the Car overheating! Brad and the Team frantically found 3 lugnuts off, and replaced them quickly, while other Team members cooled the radiator with a hose, Adam was sent back out still on the lead lap. After a few green flag laps the 2nd caution came for the leader Hayes #87 spinning in turn 4. Adam was 12th on the re-start with Marc Casey #09 leading Marty Crawford in the X Car, and Andy Bozell in the 83. The 3rd Caution would come on Lap 38 again for the #87 spinning in turn 3. Adam was still 12th in the running order battling Luke Krick in the #9. Lap 58 would see the next caution for the X car of Crawford & the #27 of Torch Ousterhouse getting together in turn 1, Adam had the Purple Deuce into the top 10 running 9th. The #27 would be placed back in the 2nd spot, with the X car going to the tail. The Next Caution would come on lap 66 for the #87 Spinning again off turn 2. Torch had seized the lead 2 laps before from Casey. But under the Yellow the #27 blew a Radiator Hose completly off the car sending him to the Pits for the Night. Casey regained the lead over the #83 of Andy Bozell, with Jeff Bozell 3rd, and Phil Bozell 4th. Adam continued his strong run getting past the #9 of Krick and putting himself in the 8th spot behind the #25 of Ralph Wine, and the #11 of Randy Day. Andy Bozell would gain the lead from Casey, with Brother Jeff now running 2nd, The Next Caution would come on Lap 72 for Adam losing Power entering turn 3 with a shorted wire off the Fan switch! Adam brung the car in, and Brad & Jesse hurriedly fixed the short and Adam refired the Car and re-entered the race. On Lap 73 the Final Caution flew AGAIN for the #87 & the #9 spinning in turn 1. On the re-start Adam pressured the #11 & the #25 for several Laps when the too got together entering turn 3 allowing Adam to shoot underneath and take the positions. Adam would Wheel the Purple Deuce to a respectible 6th place finish behind the #09 of Marc Casey, The #0 of Rich Hardy, the #8 of Phil Bozell, the #99 of Jeff Bozell and the 8th Annual Freedom 100 Champion Andy Bozell
