Saturday Aug.30th,2008               Galesburg Speedway

The VRT Team arrived at the Track at 2:45pm Highly anticipating the Final Points Night & Season Championship Trophy Night that many thought would be the Best Racing of the Year, with many drivers digging down deep to secure there point positions and some drivers working hard to gain ground, the Pits were filling fast with Cars, and everyone was Geeked up to Go Racing! we unloaded Jesse & Adams Latemodels along with Jamie Kline's Sportsman that Adam had asked to Borrow as Jamie was'nt racing, So Adam could secure the 20th place in SP Points. we re-scaled Jesse's Hotrod this week and (it was a good thing we did) as we found some Flaws that may have been hampering Jesse's Run the last couple weeks. Jesse & Adam took the cars out in Hotlaps and Both were Hooked Up and Fast! Jesse again ran the quickest times on the Stop watch, and we were excited about his chances. Adam had a couple issues with the Brakes on Jamie's Car during Hotlaps, But that issue was quickly fixed by Brad & Kenny.

Qualifying....

Adam Took the Jamie Kline #40 out in SP Qualifying and posted a lap of 16.202 on a VERY bad Racetrack, As Rick Partenan had blown a motor just before qualifying and laid down a TON of oil in turn 1. Jesse would be the 1st VRT Latemodel to take to the track for qualifying and would post a very quick lap of 14.392 that would make him Fast Time at that time. Adam would then go out and post a 14.730 lap that would again make him 12th quick overall. With No Inversion this week, the top 10 in Points in each class would line up the way they stood in points, Jesse would start 3rd, and Adam not in the Top 10, would start 12th with the 2nd fastest time among the 6 cars that had to start on there qualifying times. Rich Hardy would set Fast Time with a Blazing Lap of 14.311 with Luke Krick 2nd at 14.313

The Track made a Good Descision and Scratched the Dash's and Heat races and Only ran the Championship Features......

Season Championship feature SP
Adam Pulled into the 12th starting position for the 40 lap Sportsman Feature with the borrowed car of Jamie Kline's in order to maintain his 20th place in points. Adam experienced brake problems during Hotlaps, and actually had the Pan-Arm bar bolt break as well. After getting him brakes, and fixing the Pan-Arm, Adam took the green and ran the car to its all-out limit but could'nt find the power to make any real moves, as Jamie's car was clearly out matched by the cars ahead of him. Adam would take the car out of the race on lap 7, as the Pan-Arm Bolt on the other side broke, and the Throttle was sticking.

Season Championship Latemodel
           Feature  50 Laps
HERE WE GO.......16 Latemodel drivers and Crews pulled there Hotrods in line for what would be a VERY Exciting and highly anticipated 50 lap Featrure with Point Leader Scott Rugg & Red Hot Rich Hardy starting on the front row. Jesse rolled into the 3rd starting position next to the much improved Rod Brown in the #18 car (as Chuck Greer was a No Show). Adam would pull his Hotrod into the 12th starting position next to Veteran Jeff Vochaska in the #45 machine. Alot had been said about the anticipated start of the race prior to the Feature as the tight race for the Championship had closed between Rugg & Hardy the last couple weeks. Both Drivers being crafty Veterans were'nt going to give that point up without a fight! was the talk going threw the pit area. We talked with Jesse all week and again before the start, To insure him to be careful, and be ready for any possible mistake that he could quickly take advantage of to get his Hotrod around the 2 Veterans. (little did we know that what was about to happen, would fall directly into form). On the 1st drop of the Green, The #0 of Rich Hardy tryed a outside move on Scotty entering turn 1, But was unable to hold the car down and lost footing exiting turn 2 and went off the back stretch causing a yellow to come out and thus a Complete Re-Start! after re-lining the cars in place, the Green was dropped for the 2nd time and AGAIN Rich Hardy made the same move, Hoping that the car would stick this time, But again lost Footing out of turn 2 and this time Looped it off the back stretch and collected the #18 car, who intern made contact with the #00, Breaking Kirbys A-Frame and Brake Caliber, Thus inabling him not to start the feature. After getting the cars back in order for the 2nd time the race again was giving the green. This time Rich had a different approach and stayed glued to Scottys outside and hoped to beat him out of the corner for the green. As both cars excited turn 4, (as we saw it from the Hauler)!! the 2 touched wheels and Scotty was turned directly into Rich who was racing againt the outside retaining wall, and both were sent Crashing Heavly into the front Stretch wall! Both cars took Heavy Damage and were unable to continue....After a very Heated few minutes of all-out caos, Rich Hardy was giving permission to jump in the #33 car of his Son Rob Hardy, And Adam being the Sportsman that he is, made a Gallant move and quickly tracked down Scotty on the front stretch and offered his car to Scotty!! After a brief discussion with Ralph, Scotty was giving the OK to do so, and he climbed into the VRT #2 car and straped himself in to try and nail down his CHAMPIONSHIP!!. Both Hardy & Rugg were forced to start the tail, and Jesse was moved to the Point and NOW we were REALLY feeling the Heat of the Moment as Both me and Brad paced the Hauler with excitment thinking that this was Jesse's moment in the sun, and he may have the car to pull off his 1st ever A-Feature . On the 3rd re-start, with Luke Krick lined up beside Jesse, we knew that Jesse needed to get a perfect start and that he did, as he jumped out to a 2 car length lead with Luke running 2nd. The 3rd Caution would fly on lap 6 as the #18 of Rod Brown and the #63 of Jeff Bozell made contact in turn 3, as the Caution came out the #48 car looped off turn 2 and came to rest sideways on the backstretch, as the leaders came off turn 2, and had to make drastic moves to avoid hitting the #48, Veteran Jeff Vochaska did'nt fair so well, as he did'nt notice the #48 and Blasted the Right Side full-Bore and destroyed his car!! Now the VRT team was watching the watch as the 11pm Curfew was fastly approaching and Jesse was still leading!! The time was 10:45pm and we all thought after watching the huge wreck involving the #45 & the #48 that time would run out for the clean-up and Jesse may just pull this one off.. But the PTS crew worked feverishly and got the track cleaned in RECORD time!! Now our Hopes were that Jesse could hold off a Very fast Luke Krick and win his 1st Feature. On the re-start Jesse was good for a couple laps but something seemed to go away from the car, as Luke reeled him in and jumped to the outside entering turn 1 and made a clean pass to inhiert the lead. We were all shocked on the Hauler as Jesse was forced to give up the lead that we were sure would'nt have happened unless something went wrong with the car. Jesse maintained a comfortable 2nd place lead threw-out the rest of the race, and would finish with another VERY GOOD, But Disapointing 2nd place finish as Luke Krick scored the Convincing win and collected the Season Championship Trophy! Scotty Rugg would man-handle the #2 car to a 7th place finish AND WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP!! over a determined Rich Hardy who drove the Hell-out-of His son's #33 car to finish 5th. After the Race, the Culprit of Jesse's Failure to hold the lead starred us right in the eye! a Flat right rear tire! DAMN.........
CONGRATULATIONS GO OUT TO SCOTT RUGG FOR WINNING THE LM CHAMPIONSHIP & RICH HARDY FOR GIVING UP A HELL OF A RUN LATE TO MAKE IT CLOSE!  WE WERE GLAD TO HELP SCOTTY WIN HIS CHAMPIONSHIP AS HE IS A TRUE FRIEND AND SPORTSMAN!! GREAT JOB SCOTTY...................

Final Note......

As the Regular Season at Galeburg has came to a end, The Plans for the VRT Team are still in the works, as we know right now for the rest of this year! our plans are to run the RUN WHAT YA BRUNG show next saturday at Galesburg, Then Prepare the Cars for the up coming SUPERSHOE at kalamazoo!! (Party Anyone??)As for next season, we will be in negotiations with our current Sponsor's and will be seeking added Sponsorship for a Possible move to Kalamazoo Speedway with both cars next year. Not saying that is a DONE deal. But that is our hope for Both Jesse & Adam to get more exposure, and compete with some of the best South-West Michigan drivers around. If the move is made, we have had alot of FUN racing at Galesburg, But yet had some Heartaches as well, We may have made the wrong decision last week to make our statement known that the Track needed help in the officiating staff, and maybe our web-site was miss leading in some aspect, But we would like to let everyone know that we do respect Ralph & Ryan as running a race track every week, with drivers getting irratated at ya all the time is a tough physical and demanding job. We wish them and there staff the best of luck for next year, and look forward to seeing everyone at the Banquet..

updates on the Supershoe Preperations and Results of Run What Ya Brung will be posted soon,As will a Full Season in Review Article. So continue to check back at the NO.#1 Racing Web-Site For all your Short track Info...
