FOR THE VRT/HARRISON RACING HELLCAMINO
SATURDAY JUNE 22ND, 2013 KALAMAZOO SPEEDWAY
If reading a Crystal Ball to predict the future really worked, then the VRT/Harrison Racing Team should have found a fortune teller on Saturday, Because if we would have known what was going to happen at the Track....We would have gone Fishing or some fun Adventure like that, Cause Saturday Night was not good to the Hellcamino!! As Brad went in Leading the Points by 52 and left Trailing by 11...OUCH!!
Brad actually looked fast in Session No.1 but had a Miss and could only Lay down a Lap of 15.052 that had him 3rd quick on the board. Brad & Ivan got under the hood and discovered that a spark plug wire was not snapped on and the problem was fixed. Brad then went out in Session 2 and was much quicker but still wound up 3rd quick with a Lap at 14.865
Brad and the Team knew that to keep the current point lead Brad would have to stay Consistant and Qualify in the Top 3 as he has much of this season. Brad waited it out so he could be the last Pro-Stock to qualify as the track was bad do to a Mini-Stock laying down some major oil. Brad would watch Toby Montgomery lay down the fast lap at 14.584 as Brad would come close at Fast Time but fall short at a 14.634
HEAT RACE........(THE TROUBLE'S BEGIN)
Brad would roll out the Hellcamino in the 9th starting position for the 8 Lap Heat Race. Brad would start out fast as he quickly cleared a couple cars and began trying to clear the 11 car of John Foote Sr. , As Brad made a move to the outside groove exiting turn 2 the 11 of Foote Sr. moved up the Track and Forced Brad into the Outside Retaning Wall were Brad would do a 2 wheel wall Kisser and was forced to head to the Pits with Right Side Damage and the Right Upper Trailing Arm getting Ripped right off the Car. Brad would score a 10th place finish that did'nt sit well with Ivan or The Team!
After Brad & Ivan and Keith and Myself began Vigorous work to try and repair the Broken Hellcamino, John Foote Sr. came down and talked with Brad and Apologized for the Incident. John said he did not try and crash Brad on Purpose, He was trying to find a good groove on the track and did'nt know Brad was out there! Brad accepted the Apology after talking with John. The 2 have raced against each other for 3 decades. Hot Heads Prevailed and it was back to Fixing the Car. WE THANK KEITH WILFONG For lending a Trailing arm that got the car fixed for the feature.
Brad and the Team were still a little shaken up at the incident, But it was time to go racing and try and gain back some lost points . Brad would start 16th next to Fast Qualifyer Toby Montgomery and the 2 Fast Cars began picking off cars and making there way to the front. Toby would find a couple more openings and would put the #40 car into contention as he found himself in the Top 5 within 15 laps. Brad had a little harder time of it as he Battled the #80 of Bud Hybels for a few laps and then ran into another tuff customer in the #81 of Greg Haynes. The #11 of John Foote Jr. who came into the feature trailing Brad in Points would Hotrod his way to the Point and looked as tho he'd run away. The #17 of Brent Hook kept it close as he ran a strong 2nd. Brad would get the Hellcamino into the 7th spot while he raced hard with the #81 of Haynes. With 3 laps left and Brad getting ready to make a move for the 6th & 5th spots, the Gas Line to the Carburator slipped off and Brad would Lose Power exiting turn 4. Brad would be forced to post his 1st DNF of the season with only 3 laps remaining. Brad would finish 16th and take a HUGE hit in points as John Foote Jr. would go on and Take the Win and also Taking over the Point Lead from Brad by 11 points. Brent Hook ran a strong race finishing 2nd, with Toby Montgomery 3rd, John Foote Sr. 4th and Greg Haynes rounding out the Top 5.
